Localscapes: Design Workshop

Creating a good landscape plan is one of the most important steps to achieving a beautiful and functional landscape. If you’ve taken the main Localscapes class but want extra help laying out your design, this workshop will get your ideas onto paper. We’ll walk you through a guided design process that covers the elements of a Localscape and the basics of planting bed design without getting into the details like selecting individual plants. Each attendee should leave with a basic Localscapes design drawn to-scale.
Requirements:
1. Attendees are required to have attended/watched the main Localscapes class.
2. Attendees must come prepared with a base map of their property drawn to scale

Mindfulness in the Garden: A Guided Forest Bathing Experience

Unlike a hike or fitness walk, forest bathing is a slow, mindful experience that invites you to relax, awaken your senses, and simply be in the garden.
During this guided session, you'll learn gentle techniques for slowing down, noticing details, and tuning into the sights, sounds, textures, and fragrances around you. There is no destination and no rush! Only an opportunity to breathe deeply, unwind, and find clarity in the beauty of the garden.
As you move through Conservation Garden Park, you'll also experience firsthand how waterwise landscapes can nurture both our environment and out community. Whether you are hoping to unwind, reconnect with yourself, or discover a new way to enjoy the garden, this restorative practice offers a refreshing pause and meaningful connection to the ecosystems around you.

Localscapes Creating Your Ideal Magna Yard

Are you looking for the best way to improve your landscape? Magna Water District has teamed up with Localscapes to present a class for residents about creating your ideal landscape. The event will be presented by Conservation staff at Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District
In this class, we'll be sharing the basics of the proven Localscapes method, introducing free local resources, and showing attendees how to take advantage of substantial rebates available to residents through the Utah Water Savers programs.
Learn how to solve your landscape challenges in a way that will improve curb appeal while reducing maintenance costs and time. Space is limited and registration is required.
Rain Harvesting for Homeowners

Learn practical, effective ways to manage stormwater, from filtering runoff with rain gardens to capturing it with rain barrels.
Managing stormwater on your property can decrease pollutants in waterways, increase groundwater recharge, and decrease the chances of water damage to your house. Rain gardens, swales, and barrels can be a fun addition to your landscape that can accomplish all of these things and look great at the same time!
This is Part Two of a two-part series and pairs perfectly with Rethinking Rain, where you'll learn the big picture of stormwater in our region.

Revive the River: Hands On Creek Care & Planting by Seven Canyons Trust

Work & Learn: Switch2Drip

Learn how easy it is to switch you sprinkler heads to drip irrigation.
Come get dirt on your hands and a smile on your face as you work alongside our gardeners! You’ll receive expert instruction in best yard care practices you can use in your own yard. Bring gloves and dress for the great outdoors (we provide the tools). Group size is limited, so register early.
Watering with drip irrigation will reduce both water and weeding requirements in your own yard. You'll learn how to switch out your sprinklers to a drip system and help us retrofit an older area of the garden to drip irrigation.

In this workshop, kids and adults are invited to explore the colorful scenery of Conservation Garden Park and turn it into expressive artwork. Our instructor, Jean Richardson from Neighborhood Art Center, will guide you through simple techniques for observing shapes, choosing colors, and capturing what you see. No experience required and no pressure to paint "perfectly". Everyone will head home with a cheerful piece of art inspired by water conservation and their day in the garden.

Localscapes: Design Workshop

Creating a good landscape plan is one of the most important steps to achieving a beautiful and functional landscape. If you’ve taken the main Localscapes class but want extra help laying out your design, this workshop will get your ideas onto paper. We’ll walk you through a guided design process that covers the elements of a Localscape and the basics of planting bed design without getting into the details like selecting individual plants. Each attendee should leave with a basic Localscapes design drawn to-scale.
Requirements:
1. Attendees are required to have attended/watched the main Localscapes class.
2. Attendees must come prepared with a base map of their property drawn to scale

Tote-ally Garden Ready DIY Reusable Tote Workshop

Immersive Learning: Fall Landscape Care

Learn which fall landscaping tasks are the most important and the best way to accomplish them.
Immersive Learning classes are action-oriented and take place in the Conservation Garden Park. Learn through observation as our expert staff teach landscaping techniques and activities by demonstrating how the work is best accomplished. Plan to be outdoors and come prepared to ask questions.
Join us in our Localscapes exhibit as we demonstrate best practices for taking care of you landscape in the fall. We will cover leaf cleanup, mulching, fertilizing, vegetable gardens, and cutting back perennials.

Bubble, bubble, soil and shovel! Get into the Halloween spirit while getting creative with Neighborhood Art Center!
Join us for a magical, slightly spooky exploration of nature and art! In this Halloween-themed botanical art class, you will use real leaves, flowers, or other fall textures to make your own masterpieces!
Our featured project is a Halloween botanical oil pastel relief drawing. Arrange natural materials under paper, then use oil pastels to reveal hidden shapes and textures to incorporate into your art! Taught by Jean Richardson of Neighborhood Art Center.

Qigong and Tai Chi in the Garden
