Immersive Learning: Fall Landscaping

Learn which late season landscaping tasks are the most important and the best way to accomplish them.
Immersive Learning classes are action-oriented and take place in the Conservation Garden Park. Learn through observation as our expert staff teach landscaping techniques and activities by demonstrating how the work is best accomplished. Plan to be outdoors and come prepared to ask questions.
Join us in our Localscapes exhibit as we demonstrate best practices for taking care of you landscape in the fall. We will cover leaf cleanup, mulching, vegetable gardens, and cutting back perennials.
Taught by Conservation Garden Park staff.

Qigong and Tai Chi in the Garden

Join us outdoors for a gentle and grounding practice blending Qigong and Tai Chi. Through mindful movement, breath, and stillness, we’ll reconnect with our bodies, the earth beneath us, and the rhythm of nature all around. This class is open to all levels and welcomes curiosity, presence, and ease.

Ever wondered how to make your landscape look great year round? Come join us for a beautiful autumn walk in the Garden.
Conservation Garden Park offers many interesting plants and landscapes to see year round. During this tour we will focus on the trees, shrubs, and grasses that look great in the fall that you can add to your own landscape.
Please come prepared to walk outside in the garden.

Sound Bath Meditation in the Garden

Step into a serene garden sanctuary and experience the healing vibrations of a sound bath under the open sky. Surrounded by nature’s beauty, you’ll be guided into deep relaxation as crystal singing bowls, chimes, and other resonant instruments wash over you. This peaceful, meditative experience is designed to calm the nervous system, quiet the mind, and reconnect you with the present moment.

BOOtanical Art with Neighborhood Art Center

Bubble, bubble, soil and shovel! Get into the Halloween spirit while getting creative with Neighborhood Arts Center! Create an enchanting Halloween themed oil pastel relief drawing with Jean Richardson from Neighborhood Arts Center. Jean has received a BFA in Drawing and Painting and an MFA in Studio Arts. She has been teaching art for 15 years, and has taught students from elementary school aged up to the college level.

Ready to apply the design framework you learned in Introduction to Localscapes? View an online version of Localscapes University and watch at your convenience. This class will include training in design, irrigation, planting, and maintenance.
If you are unfamiliar with Localscapes, we recommend taking Introduction to Localscapes online first, which will help you determine if Localscaping is right for you.

Flip Your Strip

This on-demand class covers the best techniques to add curb appeal and save water by removing non-functional grass from your landscape.
Join Madeline as she teaches how to flip your park strip by removing the lawn and replacing it with waterwise plants, irrigation, and mulch.
If you plan to undertake a larger landscape project like a full yard or front/backyard project Localscapes University is recommended.
