Julia Rose Itoh Peony

Paeonia 'Julia Rose'

Plant Details:

Plant Type: Perennial
Plant Family: Paeoniaceae
Plant Description: This peony grows vigorously and the flower stocks do not need staking. The leaves are dark green and the flowers are large, double blossoms of a pink to orange color and have a pleasant scent. Bloom at the end of May into the beginning of June. Itoh peonies, or intersectional peonies, are hybrids of the tree peony (P. lemoinei) and garden peony (P. lactiflora).

Maintenance:

Maintenance Type: Perennial - Herbaceous
Plant Care: Perennial - Herbaceous (soft-stemmed plants that die back in winter and regrow in spring): Remove spent blooms to promote rebloom later. Some plants tend to flop over after the first bloom and attempt to regrow from the base; in these cases, the old stems can be cut away in summer. As plants become dormant in the fall, remove dead leaves and stems.
